The University of Lagos on Monday, December 8, 2025, welcomed a joint delegation from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The visit formed part of a nationwide assessment exercise aimed at evaluating the state of facilities, level of operationalization, and challenges faced by TETFund-supported innovation structures in beneficiary institutions across Nigeria’s six (6) geopolitical zones. It underscored the deepening partnership between TETFund and UNDP in driving innovation ecosystems across Nigerian universities.


The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Muyiwa Falaiye, received the team along with the Bursar, Mrs. Oluwafunmilola Yetunde Adekunle, and the Registrar’s representative, Mrs. Yetunde Ogunlewe. Professor Falaiye re-affirmed UNILAG’s unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and expressed appreciation for TETFund’s continued investment in the university’s developmental strides.




In his remarks, leader of the deelegation and TETFund’s Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Arc. Babatunde Olajide noted that the assessment aimed to strengthen research, innovation, and enterprise development within the Nigerian tertiary education system.
The delegation, which included Dr. Joy Anenih (Research and Development Lead, TetFund) and UNDP representatives Miss Wuraola Akinola, Miss Aisha Akum-Usman, and Mr William Tsuma took a guided tour of key project sites, such as the storage facility for equipment slated for installation at the UNDP Innovation Hub.


The proposed site within the Faculty of Social Sciences Complex, designated to host a new TETFund-donated innovation space was also inspected. The facility, once completed, is expected to significantly enhance the UNILAG’s capacity for research commercialization, digital skills training, and entrepreneurship incubation.

Members of the delegation expressed satisfaction with the progress observed and reiterated their commitment to supporting UNILAG in strengthening its innovation-driven objectives.
