Management of the University of Lagos, on Monday, December 15, 2025, held its Annual Media Parley with members of the press across the print, broadcast and online media, in attendance.
Held at the Senate Lounge of the UNILAG Senate House, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, in her remarks, adjudged the annual gathering a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the media for the cooperation and fairness which the university has enjoyed all through the year courtesy of their reportage.


Prof. Ogunsola who led other members of management to the event acknowledged the media as strategic partners in the task of nation building, hence the need for stronger synergy and strategic partnerships.
Her words “… you have held us accountable, told us where we erred and praised us where we have done well, as we continue on our journey of transforming this university, my prayer is that with you besides us, we will take our decisions more intentionally, more judiciously and with deeper thoughts and considerations for all possible outcomes”.


The Chairman, Education Writers Association of Nigeria (EWAN), Mr Mojeed Alabi spoke on behalf of the media. His remarks re-echoed the indispensability of collaboration and partnership between the media and the managements of tertiary institutions.


Mr Alabi particularly acknowledged the daunting challenges confronting tertiary education in Nigeria and appreciated the management of UNILAG for maintaining the tempo of excellence despite the inhibitors.
He, on behalf of the Education writers, advocated continued partnership among all stakeholders in the education sector, to create a system that will serve the greater interest of all.
A key highlight of the 2025 Media Parley was the celebration of Prince Yemi Omoboriowo who retired as a Higher Technical Photographer earlier in April 2025.


Senior Assistant Registrar, New Media and Publicity, Miss Olanike Ogunshakin alongside Principal Transport Officer, Mr Olawale Fagbulu were also announced as the Communication Unit Staff of the year.


Other side attractions of the 2025 Annual Media Parley included a Spoken Word Poetry presentation by Mabel Osagiede, a 400 level student of the Faculty of Law as well as light games.
